- David Magnes was born in South Africa in 1963 and
educated at Eden College in Johannesburg. As a youth
he participated in numerous show jumping events and this
love for horses quickly extended into a creative talent. He
began his career painting portraits of racehorses, along
with racing and polo scenes. In addition to his equine art,
David has also had various successful wildlife and
landscape shows. David is listed in the Dictionary of
South African Painters and Sculptors. His work is well
known in South Africa and has been exhibited in galleries
in South Africa and the United States. Selected
exhibitions include: Bedford Gallery, South Africa,
Bishops Court Fine Art Gallery, South Africa, The
Sporting Scene Gallery, NJ, Frame Concepts, Toronto
and the Celeste Suzany Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Some of his most recent works can be viewed at Daphna
Gallery in Boca Raton FL.. His work has been
commissioned by high profile clients such as the
Oppenheimers of DeBeers, and his paintings hang in
private collections here in the US and throughout the
world. David moved to the US in 2000, and now resides in
Miami, Florida.
